The turkey quickly took over my Damn Right I Am A Steelers Fan Now And Forever Shirt group of turkeys, and was not nice to anyone on my farm. One morning I had just fed the turkeys and was in the middle of feeding chickens when I felt something slam into the back of my legs, and a very sharp stab in my thigh. I turn around just in time to ward off the next rush with a quick smack to the turkeys face with the bucket I was carrying. This stunned him long enough to grab him by the legs and toss him over the fence. The stabbing feeling was one of his spurs (a sharp spike on the side of his leg) going all the way through my double layer canvas work pants and into my thigh. I imagine I'd have been pretty cut up if I had been wearing shorts or thin pants. The worst part is I never even got to eat the damn thing. A few weeks after this incident, the original owner stole him back in what I like to refer to as The Great Turkey Caper. I raised turkeys they are mean bastards, you can kick them to move away to enter their pen to FEED them and the leg pulling back to deliver a warning kick was seen as a retreat and they took it as an opening and would attack. We had 4 hens and one Tom, he was a bastard and I was sooo happy the day we ate him. Oh most definitely. I was sitting in a friend’s back yard reading a book and the male turkey they kept as a pet stalked me and tried to attack me. Did you know that when large turkeys beat their wings against the ground it can sound like a gunshot?
