While I think they have a moral obligation to society to use this voice and power for good, others choose to take advantage and use it for less than good reasons. It blows my mind how there are so many racist diehard sports fans. Athletes and other sports figures (white and black and everything in between) have a great platform to drive change through these millions of people that already eat up every word they say, and I'm pumped to see many are starting to seize that opportunity. Sports are unique in that they're universal. A musician or actor will only be able to preach to their fanbase, which often just amounts to the choir. But people of all stripes watch sports, so athletes messages are unique among celebrities in their ability to reach the people who need to hear it. Since people here are apparently confused, yes all people listen to music and watch movies. But hip hop fans are going to be prominently black and urban. Country fans are going to be predominantly white and rural. A movie about race relations isn't going to resonate outside of the typical audience who lines up .
