Also, this sub is going to be heavily biased towards thinking the NFL dominates people’s interest more than it does (not that it still isn’t relative to cinema or music still likely going to have a larger reach). I think a lot of people are discounting how much more people get into sports than music/movies because of the regional identity aspect of it. Far more people care more deeply about sports, because I can root for my city against their city. That may exist in music/movies, but not to the level it does in sports .Edit: sry this post reads like a mess, on phone outside. I get what you’re saying though, just the original idea didn’t seem very coherent. Sports are unique in that they're universal. A musician or actor will only be able to preach to their fanbase, which often just amounts to the choir. But people of all stripes watch sports, so athletes messages are unique among celebrities in their ability to reach the people who need to hear it.
