When we said we were actually Canadian, we had a wonderful meal and the gentleman sat and visited with us for over an hour. If that’s the average treatment of Americans overseas, well, I don’t blame them for pretending to be Canadian.When I was traveling in 2003 I had Canadians on my plane give me a piece of clothing with the Canadian flag on it because they didn't want me to be targeted for being from the USA. This was not long after the Iraq war started and I definitely followed their lead on that.
