AC in 2020 The Year I Married The Most Amazing Man Alive Shirt Seattle has only recently been starting to show up in residential work, renters are very lucky to find a place with AC and still you see fancy townhomes near downtown being built without AC. But you can’t get away without it in commercial buildings, high rises, that sort of stuff. At least in every building I’ve seen up til recently. I work in new construction and was shocked as shit when I found out a Seattle area school that I’m currently working on doesn’t have AC. They said, “well, the students won’t be here in the summer”. And I was like, “aren’t there still summer programs, janitorial staff, and teachers prepping for the following school year?” Yep. It was 98degF in Seattle yesterday, which happens once or twice a year, and I’m supposed to tune an HVAC system for a school whose only way to cool down a space is by bringing in fresh outside air. Fucking great. The poor workers get the fresh 80 degree air through the vents at 10am this morning, in a brand new building, with no AC. I guess it’s hard to justify to tax payers tho. I wish I would have showed them the outside air temperature trendlogs to show em it’s only going to get hotter each year. Anyway, HVAC equipment and local buildings codes vary greatly depending on where you live.
