 My troop focused on Jason Voorhees Corgi Ch Ch Ch Grr Grr Grr Halloween T-Shirt camping. Like they definitely supported anyone going for eagle, but we also had a few scouts that were just there for monthly (or more) camping trips. That being said, OA trips were our fuck-around camping trips. They were usually hosted at this one summer camp area (out of season), so we got cabins; it was a nice reprieve from like wilderness survival and backpacking trips.meanwhile I was in a troop that started like that, then around when I made star we had about 15 cubs all cross over at the same time completely out numbing the older scouts, who's parents took over the troop and all we ever did was ealry rank advancement and stopped all high adventure campouts because it was "unfair that the younger scouts couldn't go" pretty much killed all enthusiasm to earn merit badges, as none of the new parents wanted to teach any and the older parents didn't want to teach them all and i had to drive over half an hour both ways to get to another troop with people that taught them.
